Very solid military fantasy, set in Cole's Shadow Ops universe. One cover blurb calls it "Blackhawk Down meets the X-Men", but more specifically, it's the X-Men without a Xavier (or even a Magneto) to protect the powered people's interests. This book is set before the previous series of Shadow Ops books, when magic wasn't yet common knowledge. A Navy SEAL stumbles on evidence while on a mission, and ends up dead. A sorcerer brings his spirit back, however, binding him in his own body with another spirit, of an ancient warrior-king thirsty for blood.
As a Navy brat I'm a sucker for authentic military stuff, and Cole's got the credentials. Knock a half-star off if that's not normally your bag.
